Smile Cookies

I'm new to the world of creating and using Cookies. I understand how to do it, I am curious what the extra string at the end of a cookie is called:

for instance on from yahoo

B15r3p1d2d7acc&b=3&s=r1yahoo.com/102434253209632065574414994409629800449*

What is the: /102434253209632065574414994409629800449*

All cookies I create get an auto generated string like this. I assume it is some kind of mathematical representation of the data that comes before it to stop users from modifying cookie data? How is this string being created, by the server? What method is the server using to generate this string.

Thanks!

How are you creating your cookies? Looking at the PHP set cookie function prototype, I can say that there are only 6 user controllable elements to a cookie: Name, Value, Expire, Path, Domain, and Secure. Just guessing by the slashes, I would say the yahoo string is probably path.

How are you creating your cookies?
