Could you please throw light upon "Configuration Management and Versioning" with regard to Software / System Development and Life-Cycle?

Sorry to be blunt but you really need to use a search engine, the answers are easily found. Asking questions that are vague and open ended just makes you look lazy - please do some research then come back if you have a problem with a specific configuration management tool.
