Compiling Source SDK files under linux.

Hello, I am wondering if any of you have been able to compile the Mod files from the Source SDK under linux using gcc or g++ or any other way. The SDK has linux sections but that is only for the server .so files not for the full game files themselves. They want me to buy Visual C++ compilers or someother stuff, and I don't want to do it if I can just do it with gcc etc... Any help appreciated!
