com mode like program

I'm either looking for a program similar to sdf.lonestar.org's com mode or writing my own shell script or program.

Does any one know where i can find somtihng similar to the old school com mode for linux? (i already try ed emailing the author but got no response)

Or

I could write a shell program that links 2 or more ttys together and some how echos messages back and forth similar to "talk" or "write" except for more than just two terminals, does any one have any ideas?

Could minicom be what you're after? It's a clone of the DOS telix application.

is it possible to set up a terminal that all users can use "talk" to and have it echo all messages to all users who are using "talk" to talk to this terminal, or maybe this could be done somehow by configuring the talk daemon?
