Colouring widgets in glade using C

HI,
I am designing GUI using Glade/Gtk+ & C.
I just want the the GUI to look more attractive.
Can anybody guide me to
How to colour the widgets
How to add some Image at the backend
How to Colour the fonts and etc.
Or suggest some good sites for my help...

Gnome has some help for applications like Glade. www.gnome.org, and then look for the Documentation pages. Also, glade.gnome.org. The Gnome documentation covers most stuff, but it could be a lot better.

You can build GUI without Glade too. Some prefer that way.

I am already using glade for designing GUI.
But I want the particular method to colour the widgets.....
Also
1)Does any body knows how to draw a rectangle dynamically at run time
in some specific area of window.....
But it should be using 'C'
2)How can I add selected directories from file chooser dialogbox to a
particular hbox.
