catch sftp error in tcl

Hello

I have using a command line for sftp in tcl script

catch { [spawn sftp $login@$machine ] } catch_err

Now if i give the incorrect machine ip which is not existing in network , i should be able to catch the error "Network is unreachable".

How can i read such error?

Thanks in advance
