Can perl move X amount of directories.. somehow?

I'm in the midst of making a perl script and I was wondering if it was possible, to say, have a folder with 20 files in it, then move 5 files out of there, into a new one. I would like to to do this until the original folder has no more files in it, but I'm very stuck.

Could you provide a bit more background on why you need this functionality? It's a very easy thing for perl or bash or any language to do. Read the directory and perform an operation on each file.

It's just to sort say... 20 files into a folder each. It's for work :P.

There are similiar methods of doing it in perl although a bit shorter to write.
