building an air traffic control game

For a while I have been trying to find a linux Air Traffic Control game, without success.

Totally frustrated I'm now thinking of building one. But other than asking for help to do so, I have no idea where to start.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Since I have no programming knowledge using a simple language is a must.

If it matters I'm running the latest 32 bit Slacko Linux.

I don't know anything about air traffic controllers, but it sounds like it could be a fun game concept.

I would look into LÖVE, a game framework you program with lua: https://love2d.org/. You can find a lot of tutorials linked from their wiki relating to both using the lua language and using the engine to write games.

Whoa. I wear glasses and still can't read. I read "Slacko" as "Slackware" and then recommended the SlackBuild script here http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14...elopment/love/ but I really have no idea if those work on Slacko or not. Sorry about that.

flightgear has an ATC simulator.

This might be good too.

Have you tried atc? No fancy graphics, but could be amusing...

http://slacko.eezy.xyz/index.php says "it is compatible with the binary packages of Slackware 14.1", the bsd-games package should have this game.

There are many sophisticated ATC simulations out there on the market.

And, as for the TTY "atc" game aforementioned ... it's actually a very fun time-waster. I've got a copy and play it now and then. (The version that I use, importantly, does give you a warning that a plane is about to appear, and they can appear at any altitude. Furthermore, you must send them out at the specified altitude and bearing. The game is also time-limited, with all planes guaranteed to arrive 15 minutes before the end of the game, and the airspace must be completely empty before time runs out. It may be "the original game" that this man-page refers to.)

A direct link to this would be appreciated.

This sounds like a hugely complicated task to program as your first project. I would start with much simpler things and build up to where you want to get.

Personally, I find the Air Traffic Control game pretty boring. I mean, sure, it requires a sharp eye and quick reflexes to manage all those planes and ensure they don't collide, but after a while, it just becomes monotonous. That's when I stumbled upon Boho Casino https://bohocasino.net/ and boy, has it been a game-changer! It's got all the excitement and thrills I was looking for. From the moment you step into this virtual casino world, you're greeted with stunning graphics and a captivating atmosphere that transports you to the bright lights of Vegas. Whether it's trying your luck at slot machines or challenging yourself in intense poker games against players from around the globe, Boho Casino never fails to keep my adrenaline pumping.

How realistic a game do you want.

The BSD-games package is sufficient for me.

If you want squawks (secondary-radar identification), mode charly, separation constraints and realistic QNH-dependent flight-levels... Wake turbulence categories and division of tasks (tower, ground, diverse arrival working-positions, area-control, upper-area-control... simulation of adjacent air-spaces

“realistic” (I know who will never touch at such a game, thousands).

... take the old atc game and all will be fine.

Edit: Apart from that, some none-game implementations exist. I only know of the Ericson simulator, but it was not very good.

Consider Microsoft's legendary Flight Simulator. Which is so good that it's used for initial pilot training. It's very obvious that some amazing programmers "have way too much time on their hands!"

Well, there are also "ATC Simulators" which are every bit as realistic – built or designed by people who actually do the work.
