Browser query on html tags/ javascript

Hi guys,

I'm trying to modify browser source html to make it stand-out in places. I seem to recall some years ago that the source code changed features such as font, font size, text color and so forth by means of '<>'tags which were placed immediately before and after the text in question. For example the colour of the sky is <colour=blue>blue</colour>.

But something's changed lately and I see source code that doesn't seem to use this system; there's nothing obvious in the source to indicate how the style change instructions are being implemented and yet when parsed by a browser, there have definitely been style changes to the text. The only thing I can think of is that the styles are defined elsewhere in some seperate header file and only referenced by short labels that don't appear significant to my eyes.

Can someone bring me up to date, please???

Thanks!

Ha! I just came across it by chance elsewhere. And yes, you're correct. I thought it had to be something externally defined.

BTW, this site is incompatible with the incoming XHTLM style system.
