I am programming an application that will run on a Linux box ( Mandrake ). I want the application to begin directly after boot up with no login screen and with no boot time messages. Is it possible to blank the screen during boot up and simply display something saying booting..please wait.
Would appreciate any input..Thanks. |
Are you saying that after you power-on your machine, and after lilo runs, you don't want to see any boot-up messages ( like the hd stuff and other loading drivers)? Is that correct?
I think it may be possible if you want to hack at the kernel. Gary |
That is absolutly correct crabboy. Do those boot up messages stem from one file or many? Have you seen this done before?
Thanks. |
i saw a program on freshmeat that does this. i think it was called somthing like 'linux progress loader'??? it just shows a progress bar ?and some kind of picture?. i dont remember if you had to recompile the kernel or not. i never used it, but now you know it is possible.
