If you ask for language to start if you want to dig into programming as a beginner then i would suggest you, start C language, that will give you a very basic idea about the concept, what you are going to do for a basic program. And that's what you are looking for right! If you just started you need to start getting your points clear, understand the code, what are data types, types of values, understand the mean of each and every line of code what particular line stands for, what's the meaning of those headers, what they do etc etc. Don't think that you are getting expert in C language and then stop by. After getting the basic idea from C language, now the actual journey begins.
Now it's time to so for some high-level programming languages to make your programming career and give it a real touch. Now two languages i prefer you, First is C++ that will be perfect after learning C language, and then start learning java.
Here is the thing, when you are coding with C language then probably everyone suggests you Turboo C that is very fine and excellent for that time. But now you dig into some high-level programming languages then you should start using IDE(Integrated Development Environment) which will make your programming much smoother, easier and faster. There are a lot of IDE that you can try,
or check from this list

And that's all i can help from my side. Which can be helpful only if you starting from scratch and want to explore. Or if you are interested in web development then PHP is the best language to start.
Good Luck

I have no question on the policy, my question is to ask "what prompted this reminder?. I saw no new post that might be considered a violation.

Sorry, I should have included an identifying reference in my post, which I have now added.

The included links to the poster's own personal/commercial website as the primary reference cited is what prompted the reminder. Such advertising or promotion in posts is not permissable as it is a common form of forum spam. I should point out that it is OK to include such links in your signature.

The poster is a relatively new member so I pointed out LQ policy and directed them to the advertising contact for LQ.
