Nevermind. Everything is working correctly now with Postfix, and I have answered my own question that I just asked.

I have no direct experience with either of these but I believe that they are much more powerful pieces of software than either ssmtp or msmtp. However for people who simply want to get mail off their system ssmtp or msmtp would be a better choice IMHO.

For myself I need something to move mail from mutt and slrn through the gmail server and msmtp is ideal: reliable, under active development, secure and very easy to configure. But I wish you all the best with either sendmail or postfix.

I'd like to suggest that you write something about procmail in your guide. Specifically how to get it and Mutt to work together nicely. I haven't been able to find any good information on this yet, but I know people are doing it.
