BASH / IPTables

This weekend I will start learning BASH and IPtables and I'm curious if anyone could give me some advice on how to start.
I can search google for tutorials and howto's but I wouldn't know if they where any good =)

Thanks a lot in advance.

you arne't going to learn bash and iptables in the same sitting, they are totally seperate things... tldp.org is always a good place for howto's though...

I know IPTables and BASH are two completely different things, I just want to learn them both

Thanks for your advice though, do you have any experience with any of the guides there?

The problem is that I'm a bit dyslexic, picking a good guide is a really tough job for me to do, that's why I'm asking if anyone could give me advice about anything he or she as a good experience with.

The linux documentation project is a good site. Although some of the howtos haven't been updated in a while, for the most part the info is still useful.

For bash, have a look at the advanced bash scripting guide and for iptables have a look at the netfilter project homepage.

If you are determined that learning two things at once is a good idea (and I don't think it is), then why not study an example of a firewall script that uses bash & iptables: HomeLANSecurity.
