Unhappy Automatic hs-minor-mode in Emacs for PHP mode?

Hi. I'm running emacs22-nox on a Debian Lenny box. I used this code from in the .emacs file to get hs-minor-mode to start automatically:

(global-set-key (kbd "C-+") 'toggle-hiding)
(global-set-key (kbd "C-\\") 'toggle-selective-display)

(add-hook 'c-mode-common-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
(add-hook 'emacs-lisp-mode-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
(add-hook 'java-mode-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
(add-hook 'lisp-mode-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
(add-hook 'perl-mode-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
(add-hook 'sh-mode-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
However, hs-minor-mode does not start automatically when I open a PHP file. (PHP-mode does open automatically).

I thought, of course, to try

(add-hook 'php-mode-hook 'hs-minor-mode)
But that didn't work. Can someone tell me the correct syntax?
