at "gvim a ; gvim b"
i get 2 windows and i can edit both of them.
both process are at "Ss" mode.

Ok so gvim doesn't work (although not all sure why as I just launched gedit with the exact same results for me.

But as this would not be the program running for several hours, we need to know if the actual command you will be running
prior to the script has the same affect??

The real command is on "SUNGRID"

mqsub -q bla -l site= bla command ; zcall 999888777666

Fair enough, so ultimately our real question here should be, will this command complete prior to moving on to
next command?

I hope someone can answer that for you, as I have not used it before so do not know

Yes I would mark this one as SOLVED and ask in Newbies about the 'mqsub ' command execution process
(maybe after searching google a bit as the answer may be out there
