Question Applications installation

Hello, I am a student who has to install an application in the Mandrake 8.0, a new speller. Similar to ispell but not equal. As I know I have to copy the binaries in /usr/bin and the data in /usr/lib, but my application does not read from /usr/lib. How can I manage to make the binary application read from the data folder?.
Thanks.
regards,
aizkorri.
