I have setup my Apache server and got PHP and eeverything installed right. My ISP doesnt support php, so I figured I can do it myself. My Question is to how can I setup my webserver so the "internet" can view my page, or that not possiable? Where would I start if I wanted to start my own hosting? Thancks in advnace
Hmm, if Apache+PHP is already up and running, and your computer has internet connection, I'd say you're done. Just make sure your firwall is not blocking port 80...
You have a few options. You could just use your IP address. Or, you could use one of the many dynamic dns services out there, like Dynamic DNS. These let you have a constant subdomain from one of their domains that will point to your server, regardless of your IP (it updates itself when you get a new IP). Or, if you want to set up a domain name and everything, you'll need a DNS server to handle your name resolution. You can set one up yourself, but there are places that will handle this for you (Dynamic DNS does this too, at a cost). You can set it up on your web server itself if you want. Secondly, you'll need a static IP address. Your ISP may assign you one for some extra cash/month. Then you then need to go register a new domain name (if you don't have one already). After registering it, find where you can edit the nameservers, and enter your name server's address there. All DNS queries to your domain will now be forwarded to the nameservers you specified. You'll now have to set up your nameservers to give the IP address of your web server for this domain as well. In the end, it's probably easier to get hosting service that supports PHP.
