Anyone recommend a php environment?

Hi, all,

I'm making my first foray into web development, for my own blog site. I have no problem using a basic text editor for writing php code, or perl code for that matter, but I'd like to find out:

What tools are out there that make php development more friendly than just vi (or gedit) and firefox? What do you all recommend?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Bluefish or Quanta are worth a try. I like Bluefish, but I do very little with php.
