Any recomended java compiler?


Previously i did my java programming on windows, and now i had migrate to linux. I use JCreater previously on windows. So any suggestion java compiler for linux ?

Compiler? The official Sun one? Also gcc has gcj. Do you mean an Intergrated Development Environment-aka a nice gui to write and test your code in?

The Eclipse platform http://www.eclipse.org/ is a good IDE to use and it's cross-platform.

As for the compiler the best one is: Sun Java (J2SDK SE). Freely downloadable from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html.

The latest Java is version 5 RC/1.5.0

Well, thanks for pointing that out. But since I haven't upgraded from 1.4.2, I couldn't recommend it. I didn't want to recommend something that I haven't used yet.
