Anjuta won't build distribution

Ok, I've just completed my first project in Anjuta (well got to a point where I can release it anyway). Per the documentation to get a nice tarball I should select Build->Build Distribution. However when I do that make tells me there is no target called 'dist'. Did I do something wrong when I set up the project? Has anyone had enough experience with Anjuta to know what's wrong?

(I asked this same question in Anjuta's forum but no one's posted on that forum for over 24 hours).
