[ask] A good PHP debugger that runs on a webserver

Dear all,
I'm a newbie on Linux and currently in the process of installing it. I'm planning to install the latest version of Apache, MySql, and PHP on the machine with a debugger on it. I haven't decided which debugger is suitable for this environment since I don't have any experience on it.

Anybody can recommend me a good php debugger that runs on a webserver?

Regards,
ethereal1m

xdebug huh, I'm using it in windows but i got some problems with xdebug and still trying to solve it like:
1. The logger doesn't work
2. Cannot connect with webserver but works with other setup
3. with php 5.3 it doesn't show value of variables inside a function

Anything else that you guys can recommend? I'm still troubleshooting xdebug problem though.

Eclipse.

Frankly, I haven't tried it (my experience with Eclipse is limited to Java), but it's from the Zend folks, and it's got tremendous support from IBM (which is also committed to PHP) ... so I have high expectations for it:

IIRC Eclipse *uses* zend as it's debugger. xdebug is of zend.

ethereal1m: In the interests of this being a Linux forum, can you reproduce the same problems with xdebug in Linux, or is it just when within Windows?
