i want to know the details about SCO

like versions, basic commands etc.....

kindly inform me is there any webiste ??

Since SCO Unix is Unix - you should get a Unix Admin book and work through it. You are aware that there are hundreds of commands available, aren't you?

What you're asking can't be answered in a forum. have you ever seen a unix admin manual? You're going to have to do some googling and a lot of reading to get those answers.

There are manuals available both online and in bookstores and libraries.

Firstly, for SCO, there are 2 different flavours of O/S.

SCO OpenServer version 5 (5.0.0, 5.0.2, 5.0.4, 5.0.5, 5.0.6 and the latest is 5.0.7)

SCO Unixware version 7 (7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.1.3 and the latest is 7.1.4)

The commands are almost similiar to other Unixes, like "ls", "mv", "cp" ...

For the administrative commands, it uses "scoadmin" just like "YaST2" in SuSE.

Why SCO?
 

SCO has been trying to sue Gnu for making free, open source versions of the common Unix (Posix)
programs available. Anyone who wants to sue "Linux" is fighting an uphill battle that won't
be won, and is wasting lots of money doing it.
SCO also isn't exactly cheap. They are also owned by Microsoft, hence the fighting with Gnu/Linux.

You want to try Unix? Try one of the BSDs. I am partial to FreeBSD, personally.

Want a commercial Unix that is closely matched to the hardwear, try Solaris, HP-UX, Aix,
or Irix.

For free, you can try FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, DragonFly BSD, and Solaris.

The rest of the Unix world works in close cooperation with Gnu and Linux.
Parts of Linux are from FreeBSD and FreeBSD offers source compatibility with Linux.
Solaris uses Gnome, and Linux has been ported to Sun Sparc. MacOS 10 says that
it is a variant of FreeBSD and uses the Mach micro-kernel from the Gnu HURD.

SCO just sits in its corner all alone.
