Okay, I have another Card -- WLG1101 Marvel Chipset that I have inserted in lieu of the Netgear. This doesn't seem to want to work with Mepis either. Here's some information . . .
lspci -v

Memory at 26000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Memory at 26010000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]

No go Mdmarmer but thanks for the info on mutilities. Yes, I am using Mepis 6.0 -- I really like it except for not being able to
go wireless on it. Could you maybe suggest an out-of-the-box Mepis ready card? Thanks again!
In that case try to set up your Windows drivers -- you could do that on the other card too
ndiswrapper -e mrv8k51
(could also help to remove all the drivers, as none of them are working)
put all the Windows drivers in a folder -- you'll likely need .inf and .sys files from Windows drivers
navigate to that folder
ndiswrapper -i mrxxx.inf
(whatever the .inf file is called
ndiswrapper -l
(good response is driver present, hardware present)
iwconfig wlan0 channel yourchannel# essid youressid
dhclient wlan0
mdmarmer -- the Generic WLG1101 card with the Marvel Chipset is working! After trying everything you and others suggested and AFTER REBOOTING the card started working. I don't know how or why but it does. Thanks a million!
