Cool Switching from SUSE 10.2

I just tried the SimplyMepis live CD rc2 amd64 version. I was very impressed by its hardware detection capabilities. What took me days to get sorted in SUSE 10.2, SimplyMepis did automatically. Beyrl just worked.. not tweeking no fuss. I tried for days to get it working under SUSE, but failed.

I now want to switch to SimplyMepis and I am wondering if anybody might share with me the experiance of making such a switch. I have never switched from one linux distro to another before.

My SUSE 10.2 was running using KDE, if I simple copy my ~/.kde to SimplyMepis, would it break it?

Thumbs up

I've used both and now have settled on MEPIS 6.5 RC2.(waiting for 6.5 final, but RC2 is better than most other distros final version) Do your self a favor and do a fresh install. MEPIS still uses KDE 3.5.3 as default. If SuSE uses a different version I'd advise against it. Also install with a separate /home directory. It make a reinstall that much easier. If you wish save your ~/.kde file and after you install MEPIS and get it up and running rename the MEPIS ~/.kde file and replace it with your saved one fron SuSE. If worst comes to worst you can boot from the Live CD and change back to the MEPIS version.
