Sound won't work ! (snd-intel8x0)

Hello,

I just installed MEPIS to try it.
It seems good but I have no sound.
I know from the driver for my card is snd-intel8x0 and this is what alsaconf also says... but when I try and play some music, or go in the kde control pannel and try to play the demo sample, I don't hear a single noise.

The mixer is not on zero, my headphones are not muted.

What can it be ?

I have never used MEPIS so I am not sure what that looks like.. You were about to say what the alsaconf was going to say, can you give us that error?

open up kmix, goto the switches tab, turn off line jack sense and headphone jack sense
