TAPioneer were just at my house giving me a soothing neck massage - so that's good
Then I realised my CD collection had been stolen - so that's bad
But my collection was horrible and I hated myself for buying it - so that's good then
As far as I understand, TA is "Techalign" Inc. The used to sell Mepis with a tech support contract, among other services. The have recently come up with their own distro "Pioneer," which was at first based on Mepis but since late 2006 switched to Ubuntu. It's a "family" of distros, mostly geared towards enterprise solutions.
I checked them out a little, being a distro junky. But it looked like if you wanted to get anything close to the functionality of Mepis --or Ubuntu-- it was going to cost you some serious green. For the still curious: http://www.technalign.com/
They must still be pretty good, as they are based on MEPIS, but it is like all the distros out that have kde. They are similar to MEPIS but it just ain't MEPIS.
