So slow and can't install
I'm trying to install from the CD. When I boot it up, it takes a few minutes to bring up the desktop but after that the CD spins and chunters for over an hour (so far!) - we've had the sound mixer on-screen but that's now closed. I've clicked in Install but the chuntering just goes on and on (another hour so far!) and nothing seems to happen. 1228med Dell Optiplex 110. Is the PC just too slow to work????

Did you choose the 2.4 or 2.6 Kernel? Try both to see which works better for your machine. Also did you make sure that the CD Image wasn't corrupted or the CD was burned correctly?

Yeah, try the 2.4 Kernel.
Quite often problems like that can be caused by dust or a scratch on the CD surface, give the CD a wipe and inspect it next rime you try to use it.

I've tried to run Mepis on two different E-Machines without any success at all. Knoppix would start and run fine. Might just be your MOBO.
