hi all
I installed Red Hat 9.0 to my system.when i tried to access the network server icon in the startup iam getting this error "smb:/// because no host " (null) " pls give the solution

first make sure samba is running, i'm not sure how to start the proccess in MEPIS, but i'm sure it will be something like ./etc/rc.d/rc.samba or ./etc/init.d/smb start. then type in smb://the-ip-address-of-the-computer-you-want-to-access.

this isn't the best way to use samba, look into mounting

mount -t smbfs -o username=****,password=**** //server/share /mnt/samba

yes samba service is running.but it is giving same error after restarted the /etc/init/smb service

pls give the solution

well thats puzzeling ... i'm far from an expert on this myself, how about your samba confiuration file? copy and past it up here, can you mount a samba drive using the command i gave you before?

i've done a bit of searching and there dosn't really seam to be much of a answer to your problem ...
