smb:/// because no host " (null)
hi all
I installed Red Hat 9.0 to my system.when i tried to access the network server icon in the startup iam getting this error "smb:/// because no host " (null) " pls give the solution with regards sudeendra:) |
first make sure samba is running, i'm not sure how to start the proccess in MEPIS, but i'm sure it will be something like ./etc/rc.d/rc.samba or ./etc/init.d/smb start. then type in smb://the-ip-address-of-the-computer-you-want-to-access.
this isn't the best way to use samba, look into mounting mount -t smbfs -o username=****,password=**** //server/share /mnt/samba |
smb:/// because no host " (null)

well thats puzzeling ... i'm far from an expert on this myself, how about your samba confiuration file? copy and past it up here, can you mount a samba drive using the command i gave you before?
i've done a bit of searching and there dosn't really seam to be much of a answer to your problem ... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ecause+no+host |
