Result = 100?
Just what is meant by the expression 'Result = 100' which appears at the end of
KPackage>Special>APT : DEBIAN>Update?
So many errors occurred I don't know if I 'updated' or not!

It might be a worning, some repos "non-us" have been droped now with the release of Sarge... you probably can safely ignore the error (and even better edit repositories and comment out the "non-us" ones).

Thanks mos and Adriam TM.
I keep getting the same 'Warnings' with Synaptic as I got with Apt-get. Can there be something wrong with my installation I've had since I installed Mepis 8 months ago?

When I run 'synaptic' I get messages such as:
(synaptic:5162): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_view_unref_tree_helper: assertion `node != NULL' failed
(synaptic:5115): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()
What do they mean? Looks as though I'll have to do some 'googling'.

those are nothing to be concerned about, just some minor debug stuff.
