Recommend MEPISLite for old systems
Recently installed MEPISLite on two of my oldest systems, one an IBM laptop, and second, a whitebox clone I assembled probably 1997. Old stuff. But with adequate memory, Mepis has brought these machines back to life as effective, reliable, relatively quick, and secure machines. Had to pull the old ISA cards (at least most of them) and install PCI cards (again old stuff) but I like the reliability of the units. With quite a few 300mhz machines available from ebay, etc., these lite versions of Linux would be great for teaching IT, systems, networking, applications to those who otherwise cannot afford new systems. Lastly, for people who simply do not have interest in learning computer systems (on the other end of the user spectrum), but have interest in using the Internet, I see a fully configured $50 PC with a lite Linux as a wonderful tool. Hope this is helpfull and maybe gives some insight to those interested in trying Linux.
