problems with sound on any stream Mepis64

Dear Mepis users,

I recently install SimplyMepis64 on my laptop and I was amazed on how easy I configure everything. Icould play any files, my wifi connected immediately (although if I lose the signal I have to reboot in order to make it working again!!!), I had sound thru my speakers, my nvidia driver was installed and so on...
The problem I am facing now is when I go to watch something on googlevideo/youtube or whatever streaming video there is no sound!! I had a look in forum but could not solve my problem yet. The strange thing is also that on skype I got no sound also!!
Can someone suggest something??

Thanks in advance

From which program did the sound come that you heard through your speakers?

Just a shot: Try running kmix to see if any of the OUTPUT slides are "down" - I've found my "PCM" (zigzagitty line) low after viewing a few pop-up videos. YouTube uses Adobe Shockwave Flash to show the videos, I think.

You can start kmix three ways (maybe more):
1. Click on the speaker in the tray, then click the MIXER button
2. Start a terminal session and type "kmix<enter>"
3. Click MEPIS >> RUN COMMAND >> kmix<enter>

Has everyone gone on holiday?

So your sound card is working fine. This is a good starting point. I think this is an issue of flash. Did you install all the necesary plugin for it? there is a specific one for firefox (mozilla-flash-plugin or something similar).

As for skype, you probably have to modify your options there is a specific sound section. you have to use the correct sound device, look at the options you have (OSS or ALSA, I think OSS is better supported)

Hope this helps
