Hi,
could you please tell us what sound card is installed? My old A21p has a Cyrus Logic 4614/22/24 type. Check ouptput of and post it here. My A21p uses cs46xx kernel module for sound.

Have you considered 8.0.12? Perhaps on a live CD 1st, in order to see if it would fix the problem.
