New Project from the antiX and MEPIS communities - MX-14

"MX-14 "Symbiosis" is a special version of antiX developed in full collaboration with the Mepis Community and using the best tools and talents from each distro. It is a midweight OS designed to combine an elegant and efficient desktop with simple configuration, high stability, solid performance and medium-sized footprint.

The base depends on the excellent upstream work by Linux, Debian, and Xfce. MX-14 also incorporates the independent and innovative development products Whisker Menu, simsu and gottet, QupZilla Browser, smxi and inxi."

We think you will enjoy it!

MX-14 is based on Debian 7 "Wheezy" and enhanced with more up to date applications from debian-backports and MEPIS Community repository.

Includes:

Linux kernel 3.12 pae 32 bit
Xfce 4.10
Qupzilla browser
Libreoffice - full featured office suite
VLC - multimedia player and streamer
Clementine - modern music player and library organizer
Synaptic - package manager

and much more.

Very cool! MEPIS was the first distro I ever ran as my main OS, back in 2006 I think, and it was a great full-featured desktop even back then. And I've used antiX on low-end hardware with much success. It's great to see them both combining forces and creating a new distro for that middle market.

For those of you with hardware that does not support PAE, we now have a non-PAE 32 bit version up at mepiscommunity.org/mx.

Hey, Mepis guys - I need a bit of help here.

I've been trying to register for the forum, but it appears I may have registered long ago (I'd guess about 2009) and now both my username and email address are rejected as in use, or invalid, or something.

Really, I'm a nice guy, I've downloaded and set up MX-14 and it's running great, and I'd like to join the forum.

Especially @ dolphin oracle: I'd appreciate any help you can give me. I use webmail only, nothing like claws or thunderbird, so it will have to be gmail or gmx.

Thanks in advance!
