My 64-bit Mepis 8 is a delight to use, just thought i would make a posting
Would I change anything on My Mepis 8 installation: Maybe!
If it was a new install, I would want XBMC 9.04 to be ported and have it install correctly as I find it useful when VLC or SMplayer give the undersized screen on some original DVD movies I watch on my computer.

Which MEPIS 8? 8.0.x or 8.5.y? It makes a difference (KDE 3 vs. KDE 4).

I was wondering that too.
Preferences vary a lot, but I'd still find it surprising if someone would make a post with that positive a title about Mepis 8.5.
I use Mepis 8.0 and I really like it. On a different computer I occasionally experiment with Mepis 8.5. I expect 8.5 could be customized into something usable, but I haven't spent enough time to even make a real start at figuring out how.

Why?
Especially, is it the (drastic) move to KDE 4, or something else?
Note: At least 3 of the best, brightest KDE people in HLUG love KDE 4.

Roughly where I'm at, & the learning curve of the move to KDE 4 is my problem.

64-bit version of Mepis 8.0.15 updated. Unfortunately 9.11 Ubuntu's version does not work in my newly installed Mepis 8.0.15, and I tried pulling in the older 9.04 Ubuntu version but that did not work either...
Only a test system, but that is all I would change from what I can download and update. I just use other software, but I like the system that I pinned with the XBMC 9.04 version...
Not a fan of KDE 4, but I certainly realize it is the future if I do not load another window manager...
Currently I understand that KDE 3.5.12 is only Ubuntu, not available for Debian...
