Mozilla FireFox and MMPlayer

Hi all,

When viewing any type of multimedia files on the web suh as movie trailers ect, after the player has finished buffering, i hear the movie, but no picture. Any ideas?

Anyway to have Mozilla use RealPlayer to view net video on websites?

Some sites require the Windows Media Player to get to watch the videos.

You try updating your codecs with Windows ones like .wma, .asf, etc.
That may help you in watchin' the video.

A little confused as to what player your having trouble with... Either way... Mplayer or RealPlayer... I would first D/L the video in question and try to run it from my system not streamed through the browser... such as through a terminal:

mplayer movie_trailer.wmv
or
realplay movice_trailer.wmv

Not sure if Realplayer even will play .wmv, however, this will give you an indication of whether it is codec or plugin problem, to work from there...

Well since you dont know how to use synaptic I am assuming you havent enabled the debian repos yet, do so by reading this then open synaptic, hit reload, then hit search and look up w32codecs. click on it, goto install, and hit apply

Hi,

I enabled the Debian repos just now. What exactly do this function do? and what are repos? programs?

Thanks

Repositories are links to the Mirrors (Sites where the softwares are stored.)

For example, Debian Repositories means links to the mirrors that host Debian Software.

You may now update your Synaptic Package Manager.
Doing so, will include the softwares from the Repository you just now added, to your Synaptic software list.
