Mouse doesn't move on Live CD in SimplyMepis 6.0

In SimplyMepis 6.0 Live CD - my Logitech serial mouse doesn't work eventhough the mouse's arrow key is on the desktop it doesn't move.

Please help me solve this.

a serial mouse is kind of old [reay old] I would buy a new mouse. Is it a USB mouse or a old serial mouse?

Warren seems to have dropped the ball on 6.0 - especially error recovery.
I found it broken (beyond repair) when it found hardware it didn't like - in my case both video and LAN.
"go buy new bits" isn't an acceptable answer for a Linux distro.

I am considering replacement distros for that box.
