Mepis won't install, hangs at 40% during dhcp setup

Mepis won't install, hangs at 40% during dhcp setup. Any thoughts?
Nothing I do causes it to advance at all.

I have a wifi card (d-link) to connect to the internet via an actiontec wifi router. I assume that it is having trouble recognizing the hardware.

I think what I did for my noname wifi card was to pull it out, and connect via wire (Gigabit on the motherboard)) for the install.
Once I had it seup I booted with the wifi card in - picked it up o.k.
Had to manually config it and set it to activate automatically on boot, but the GUI tools were pretty good IIRC.

Does that mean I can't install mepis without an internet connection? (that would be silly).....I don't have a cable long enough to run to my computer from the router....and I don't feel like unplugging my entire system and carting it across the house to get close enough. I have a LOT of equipment hooked up.

No, I didn't say that - I carted mine across for convenience. I'm not generally a fan of GUI automated installers, I don't trust them.
So rather than dicking around later with getting the LAN support incorporated, I decided to make sure I had a good connection available during the install.

YMMV - Try it and see.

the installer doesnt even need to connect to the internet, its seting up the live-cd when its hanging for you. you could pull out the wifi card, and boot up the cd, configure it, then put in the card after the install.
