MEPIS won't erase a CD

I was disappointed with MEPIS when I noticed that there was no option to a blank a CD (a CD-RW, actually) that could be reached by right-clicking the CD icon. I suppose MEPIS has some program that can erase the disc, but my last distro, Xandros, had a "Blank Disc" option on the right-click pull-down menu. I have had to go back into Windows to erase the disc; yecch. I wasn't looking for this yet, anyway, but I also didn't see a CD writer which I could use to burn an ISO (I'm about to switch distros).
