Mepis repositoriez?

Okay, I now have Mepis installed, and thus far I love it! Only problem is some of the repositories that are listed in synapsis are not allowing me to connect. Also, I was wondering where I can find additional repositories to look in. There are a lot of programs that I use that are not typically listed in repositories, so the more I have available the better!

From www.mepislovers.org there is a link to the current sources.list file for Mepis. I'd avoid using anything in Unstable right now. Other Debain apt sources can be found at www.apt-get.org.

Enjoy!

when using unlisted sources I suggest you only enable them AS NEEDED otherwise you risk breaking things, oh and avoid ubuntu's repos it can really break things bad.

I wander if debian repositories can be used or the CDs of the debian distro can be used as repositories

Mepis uses the debian reps, unlike Ubuntu.
Becareful though when upgrading, read all messages especially if you use the sid(unstable) reps.
The debian cd should install all packages ok on Mepis. It's just that it isn't "bleeding edge"
If you are not bothered about "bleeding edge" packages, then use the debian stable and testing reps and don't use Sid.

CAREFUL about upgrading. I stick with 3.3.1 and sarge, compiling the rest.

Services?
Install bum or rcconf

see the other thread about services
