Mepis on OLPC-XO
This isn't the usual request for technical help - the forum has been very good to me on the rare occasions that I've needed help with Mepis, and that's a good thing. Which is why I'd like to see Mepis on the OLPC laptop.
I got an OLPC 'XO' machine through the give-one-get-one program last fall. It's a great little machine, and the program has the benevolent goal of spreading computing, which gives it a lot in common with linux.
It seems a natural fit: the most stable, most user-friendly, most hardware-sensitive linux, on the most open and accessible (if slightly under-powered) computer. I wrestled a bit with an Ubuntu release that's been ported to the OLPC, but it ain't Mepis, and the process is HARD. For that much effort, I want the OS I know and love already. I don't know enough to do the port by myself, but I'd be willing to help.
How 'bout it, Warren?
