MEPIS and Windows partitions
MEPIS is the distro I use most and my second favorite distro (the first is Knoppix, but for sentimental reasons), but I have found that it's not very good at reading Windows partitions, and to my disappointment, hasn't gotten any better at it between 3.x and 6.x. When I open the Windows partition with Konqueror in MEPIS, it claims the partition is empty, and takes, by my guess, 10-20 minutes to detect anything. (Oddly, it at first registers the number of folders and/or files but doesn't display them; refreshing causes it to say there's nothing at all there.)
It's obviously not a problem with my Windows partition, because I formatted it to FAT32 (expressly so Linux could write to it) and because some other distros, such as PCLOS, can read it without delay. This is, however, not unique to MEPIS. Fedora Core 5 couldn't promptly read the partition, either.
I notice MEPIS has no problem writing to it, though.
