Mepis 7 Digikam


Hi

Digikam Failed to auto-detect camera that is pluged in USB port

Kodak Easy share C653
Title listed C653 Achiever Digital ADC65usb/mnt/camera

Process unable to to create io-slave

Have reinstalled Digikam in Synaptic but still unable to use Digikam to
download photos to computer

Any help appreciated

I find it easier to use a card reader and download from cards. If nothing else, someone can be using the camera while you are downloading photos.
Also, I come back from trips with a pile of cards and I don't really want to wear out the camera cycling the cards thru.

Card reader: Plugs into a USB port and has one or more slots to plug in memory cards. You can also get card readers which mount in a 5 1/4 bay in the computer. Many laptops now have them built in.

Maurice,

I had exactly the same problem.
Take pixellanny's advice and get a USB reader.

I bought the SanDisk 12 in 1 and it works like a dream. See link :

After reading this post I remembered I had the exact same problem with Digikam..Does this program not work at all? I had to go back into the dreaded OS to download my camera pictures..The funny part is that it saw my camera but failed to connect..

A card reader is very inexpensive, and a far better method to move photos from the camera to the computer rather than connecting the camera directly to the computer...

Card readers and media are affordable, but camera are much more expensive to replace...
