I am running MEPIS 3.3.1, soon I will upgrade, but at the moment I need some wifi help. I show the following
connection speed 11
signal strength 223
an access point
a local ip
a frequency
and when I scan for networks, it shows my network, but then it says "Access Point Unknown"

all is green....except the "Access point Unknown"

Help!..where do I go from here?????

MEPIS 6.0 is much better with wifi.
I had a lot of trouble with kwifi.
Run "iwconfig" in terminal as root and let us know what it says.
Also "ifconfig".

Another possibility, find the Mepis OS Center and open it. Click on the wireless tab and enter your essid and channel in MHz -- Channel 11 is 2.462, etc.
enter your WEP key if you have one -- though it may be easier to set it up first without encryption. Click "apply" at each tab before you leave that tab.
