kernel recompile to support 6rd
Hello, I used to recompile the kernel when it was a tar.gz, and it went into /usr/local/source or something like that, then make config, make, etc.
I know Mepis has its own .deb database or whatever. I want to use 6rd with my current 8.5 so as I understand it, I have to recompile the kernel. I guess instructions for Ubuntu or Debian won't work? I'm not finding any up to date instructions on the web, I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. Thanks, Dean |
You can compile if you like. Mepis, however will probably do their own kernel updates. Why not update with your package manager?

What is 6rd?
Please provide a link to save all your viewers (& possible helpers) the trouble of duplicate searches for info. which you already have. TIA. |
ipv6 rapid deployment
Quote:
Supposedly linux will support it if the kernel is recompiled with that option included, perhaps as a loadable module. Thanks |
Thanks for the quick answer & sorry for the delayed answer -- all my home desktop boxen broke at once.
I still don't understand what "6 rapid deployment" is. I can't help other than offer sympathy w/o an explanation or a link to an explanation. |
Be a bit more open with your problem. I tired of this and asked google
Is your isp Comcast? http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/34121/ Is that your software? Would that do instead? BTW, 6rd is on wikipedia and there's an IEEE standard online about it. To get this going, you will probably need a kernel recompile. What exactly have you got? Let's have that out in the open - a download link please, if you want help. What's the exact error? when it craps out, rerun the same command again, and your output will be smaller. The first error on the smaller output is usually what we want. |
Hello, yes my ISP is comcast, for now. Everyone has figured everything out. That patch looks about right. But, I'm sorry, at this moment in my life, I have to back-burner this indefinitely, until I get more time.

I understand completely. Life goes on.
