Internet Dialup connection
When I connect to the internet with my dialup modem, the connection is completed OK but my browser will not load the websites unless I disable the eth0 network connection. Looks like it is trying to load from the NIC instead of the modem. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Perhaps you've set eth0 as your default route to the internet? There should be a file which configures your network connection somewhere in /etc. Is it /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0? Something like that. Click about in /etc and see what you can find. If it has a line in it that starts with the word gateway, try commenting out that line to stop it setting eth0 as your default route.

In the Mepis OS Center, there is an option for eth0, "Start at System Boot", if this box it ticked, untick it & see if that fixes your problem. Also after unticking it, you may need to stop interface eth0 again, if you have rebooted.

just curious, which brand modem do you use? I am looking around for one; I found that Amigo has drivers for many of their modems but I've not found any real reviews, good or bad, on their functionality...
