Installing wine on MEPIS


i went onto the WINE website but i dont know which package i should install im using mepis 3.4-3

Isn't mepis Debian?

Try this

$ su -c apt-get install wine

someone clarify if the above command could do anything disastrouse, I played the live CD version but that was 2 YEARS ago.

Winehq lists the latest version as 0.9.17. Unless you need the very latest, why not use apt as RHLinuxGUY suggests ? You may need to enable the appropriate apt repository for wine. The version available for testing appears to be 0.9.15-1.

If you want a gui method fire up synaptic.
