Is there a way to install mepis without using a livecd? It always get stuck on "finding scsi device" or something like that and never boots.

The livecd never boots?
Do you get that error while the livecd is starting or during the installation process?
Do you have any odd/different hardware installed?
When you burned the cd, did you check the md5sum?

Yes I checked the md5 checksum. It boots on my other pc too. The error occurs while the livecd is booting. I don't think I have any odd hardware installed. Slax boots on this pc without problems.

I guess if you have another Linux installed, you can use the loop device to install the downloaded iso file.
Similar to these commands:
mkdir /mnt/isotest
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/isotest -o loop
# ls /mnt/isotest

Live CD doesn't boot
Sometimes this type of problem can be fixed by adding parameters on the boot screen at the bottom of the screen, though if you don't know which ones to add it can be a problem
Typical parameters are
rootdelay=10 (this one makes the system wait 10 seconds before trying to boot in case it needs to load more modules to recognize your system)
acpi=off
pci=noirq
and many others
If you search for your specific computer model (is it a laptop?) you may find how others have installed Linux on it.

Thanks for your reply, but I am using desktop (never saw a laptop with 3.0 Ghz), and it is a customized pc, so it doesn't actually have a model number.
