installation from Live CD does not work
I tried to run the installation program of in SimplyMepis which I booted from the CD on an old P3 800 computer currently running windows 98. After some time during which the installtion program's cube on the task bar was shown as busy, it simply disappeared, and nothing happened. There was no dialog or error message.
What could be wrong?

You need to burn the iso file to cd, the md5 file is used to make sure the iso file isn't corrupted.

You aren't trying to start one of the apps on the CD from windows are you? You need to have a CD ROM drive capable of booting in your computer then boot from the CD not start windows and click on something.

I know, bluesman2333 . I was referring to the installation programs that has an icon on the desktop of Mepis when booted from the CD. According to the Mepis guide, this should start an installer, but the program simply does nothing on my computer.

Ah! OK now I understand. The only thing that comes to mind considering you have a good CD is that your system memory might not be big enough. You really need 128 MB to do an install.
