Hp printer 948c Only prints when system is shutdown
 

Hi Mepis users
Have downloaded hp linux imaging and Printing HPLIP to Desktop Hlip 2.8.2 13.5 mb also Hplip 2.8.2 run
Su Terminal
root@1[Desktop]# tar xvfz hplip-2.8.2.tar.gz
/bin/gzip: /bin/gzip: cannot execute binary file
tar: Child returned status 126
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

Hplip 2.8.2 run scrip opens in Kwrite

How do I install the scrip or untar Hplip 2.8.2.tar.gz
Trying hard
Now need help

to confirm the full file names pls.

and it looks like you may have a "file".run which you make executable and then
./file.run to execute it.

hp printer948c prints onlt when system is shutdown

Could you please clarify instructions as to ls "file"
Have used terminal ls. Do not understand.

ok pls post the full name of the files for hp you have downloaded, that includes the extensions such as .bz2 and .run or whatever

Have new printerDCP130c That works fine with Mepis
Hp deskjet 948c OK for Windows
Regret to say I had deleted the files that I had downloaded from Linux-foundation.
Have the original CD for HP 948c
Printer still only prints when system shuts down
