how to pass a command to the kernel at the grub (pendrive mepis 8 live)?
Code:
Compaq Mini 701ES
* Works very well: Wireless, suspend, hardware function buttons, sd card reader, bluetooth, webcam, power management (incl. screen dim, freq scaling,…)
*
sound doesn’t work out of the box see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/318942 .
*
Ethernet port: Needs acpi_os_name=Linux passed as a kernel parameter; See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/297263
* Wifi needs non-free driver, but works out of the box.

hi
not sure if you mean grub legacy or grub2 with Mepis...but what happens if you press E (for edit) and append your cheat code "acpi_os_name=Linux" to the end of the kernel line?
once it works we can give you an idea how to fix it so it works with kernel upgrades

Why did you put non-code in "Code:" blocks?
